The Cinnamon Trust is the only national charity helping older people and the terminally ill care for their pets. The charity deeply cherishes the special bond between pet owners and their beloved companions and is dedicated to helping them enjoy each other’s company for as long as possible.
For most pet owners, their pets are more than companions – they are family and a reason to get up in the morning. Their pets are friends that provide company and prevent loneliness, and in some cases, they’re a connection to people who are no longer with them.
With the help of thousands of volunteers nationwide, The Cinnamon Trust assists owners when any aspect of the day-to-day care of their pets poses a problem, such as walking their dogs, brushing their cats, picking up pet food, or taking their pets to the vet. The goal is to make sure an owner has all the help they need to stay together with their pet and to know that their furry, feathered, or any beloved animal is in safe hands.
The Cinnamon Trust has a national network of fostering volunteers who can provide care for pets whose owners face a short spell in hospital. Volunteers take pets into their own homes and supply love and care in abundance until the owner and pet can be reunited. Until that time, the owner is kept in touch with visits, if possible, or regular photos and letters.
Peace of mind
As well as giving practical help, The Cinnamon Trust also gives peace of mind to owners concerned about their pet’s future. Their Pet Profiling service offers a loving solution and a lifelong promise to an owner that in the event of their passing or permanent move into a nursing home, their beloved companion will have a safe and happy future. This unique service is particularly valuable for those who are facing a terminal illness, as this is often a main concern. The Cinnamon Trust ensures that pets are cared for with the utmost dedication, either by carefully choosing a new forever foster home that suits their needs or, if more appropriate, by welcoming them into one of two home-from-home sanctuaries nestled in the heart of South West England. What makes The Cinnamon Trust special is that they never rely on kennels or catteries, always giving pets the love and care they’re used to.
