Bambi’s Story
As a dog walker for The Cinnamon Trust, I often saw first-hand the power of the daily dog walk. Bambi’s owner was in poor health and hadn’t been able to walk her for a long time. So they contacted The Cinnamon Trust charity for some help and that’s where I came in.
I was assigned to complete an assessment on Bambi, and one integral part of the assessment was taking her on a short walk to see how she interacted with other dogs, traffic, children and how she behaved on the lead. What a pleasure she was to walk!
The one thing I will always remember about beautiful Bambi, was how she came ‘alive’ on that walk. It was only a 30-minute walk around the block but her nerves subsided, her eyes began to sparkle, her ears pricked up and her tongue hung out with sheer excitement. Her nose was to the ground most of the way. She became a different dog in those 30 minutes.
So never underestimate the power of the daily dog walk!
